Festool AH-ES-ETS/ETSC Edge Sanding Positioning Aid

At a Glance: Transform a compatible Festool 125mm random orbital sander into a precision edge sander for 5-60mm edges and angles from 43-92°.

Turn demanding edge finishing into a fast, controlled and repeatable process with the Festool AH-ES-ETS/ETSC positioning aid. Designed for selected Festool ETS 125 and ETSC 125 sanders, this innovative attachment provides full-surface support against the workpiece while guiding the sanding pad accurately along the edge. This greatly reduces the risk of tilting, rounding over corners or sanding through paint and filler. Its tool-free angle adjustment covers 43-92°, allowing it to process square, bevelled and freely copied edge angles. Hard and Soft operating modes adapt the guide to anything from controlled preliminary sanding to careful intermediate sanding of painted or filled edges. With edge capacities from 5-60mm, interchangeable runners and support for straight edges, external curves and inside-corner work, the AH-ES-ETS/ETSC brings stationary-quality control to large or awkward workpieces that are difficult to take to a fixed edge-sanding machine.

Machine-guided edge sanding without tipping or sanding through

Freehand edge sanding requires considerable skill to keep the sanding pad square and prevent the machine from tipping over the edge. The AH-ES-ETS/ETSC uses a broad crossheaded guide that rests against the face of the workpiece, maintaining the selected sanding angle while the compatible sander moves along the edge. The result is faster, more consistent edge preparation with substantially less manual correction.

Product Highlights

  • Converts a compatible sander: Transforms selected Festool ETS 125 and ETSC 125 random orbital sanders into guided edge sanders.
  • Up to 50% time saving: Machine sanding replaces laborious manual edge sanding for improved workshop productivity.
  • Full-surface support: Helps prevent the sander from tipping, rounding the edge or sanding through coatings.
  • Wide angle range: Tool-free adjustment from 43-92° accommodates square, bevelled and custom edge angles.
  • Hard and Soft modes: Select fixed-angle control for preliminary sanding or flexible adaptation for intermediate sanding.
  • 5-60mm edge capacity: Suitable for narrow and wide furniture, cabinet and joinery components.
  • Surface-specific base runners: Includes runners for coarse wood-type surfaces and smooth or delicate finished surfaces.
  • Excellent workpiece access: Suitable for small and large components, external curves and sanding up to inside corners.

Extra Information

  • The positioning aid is an accessory and does not include the ETS 125 REQ or ETSC 125 sander.
  • Hard mode is intended primarily for preliminary sanding where the set edge angle must remain fixed.
  • Soft mode is intended primarily for intermediate sanding and allows the guide to adapt more closely to the existing surface.
  • The LAS-H-ES plastic base runner is intended for wood and similar surfaces with a coarser texture.
  • The LAS-W-ES runner accepts a replaceable velour slideway lining for smooth, painted and sensitive workpieces.
  • The edge must measure between 5mm and 60mm for correct guided operation.
  • Tool-free angle adjustment can be set manually using the integrated display or used to copy an existing edge angle.
  • The sliding crossheaded guide provides convenient access to the sanding pad when changing abrasives.
  • Sanding machine, abrasive discs, batteries, charger, dust extractor and replacement velour linings are not included unless separately stated.

Pro Tips

  • Use the LAS-H-ES plastic runner for unfinished wood and the LAS-W-ES runner with a clean velour lining for painted or delicate surfaces.
  • Make a test pass on an offcut before sanding a finished component, especially when copying a non-standard angle.
  • Start with a finer abrasive than usual on painted or filled edges, as guided machine sanding removes material faster than hand sanding.
  • Use Hard mode for shaping and correcting an edge, then change to Soft mode for careful intermediate or finishing work.
  • Keep the complete guide surface in contact with the workpiece throughout the sanding pass.
  • Move the sander continuously and evenly to prevent localised scratches, heat or excessive material removal.
  • Replace the velour slideway lining when it becomes contaminated or worn to avoid marking sensitive surfaces.
  • Connect a suitable dust extractor when sanding large quantities, coatings, fillers or materials that produce hazardous dust.
  • Work through the abrasive grits progressively rather than making a large jump between coarse and fine grits.

How to Use

  • Disconnect the corded sander from the power supply or remove the battery from the cordless sander.
  • Confirm that the sander is one of the specifically compatible models listed for the AH-ES-ETS/ETSC.
  • Inspect the positioning aid, angle mechanism, runners and fasteners for wear, contamination or damage.
  • Fit the positioning aid to the sander using the supplied WAF 5 hex key and the procedure specified by Festool.
  • Select the LAS-H-ES runner for wood-type surfaces or the LAS-W-ES runner with velour lining for smooth and sensitive surfaces.
  • Fit the appropriate 125mm abrasive centrally to the sander&s sanding pad.
  • Set or copy the required edge angle between 43° and 92°, then lock the adjustment securely.
  • Confirm that the edge height is within the supported 5-60mm range.
  • Select Hard mode for fixed-angle preliminary sanding or Soft mode for flexible intermediate sanding.
  • Connect the sander&s dust collection bag or a suitable mobile dust extractor.
  • Secure the workpiece and place the full guide surface firmly against its face.
  • Start the sander and guide it along the edge with smooth, overlapping passes and light, even pressure.
  • Keep the base runner flat against the workpiece and avoid pausing in one position.
  • Switch off the sander and wait for the sanding pad to stop completely before lifting it away or changing the abrasive.

Features

  • 43-92° tool-free angle adjustment: Allows fast setup for perpendicular, acute and slightly obtuse edges.
  • Integrated angle display: Supports accurate manual adjustment and repeatable edge finishing.
  • Free-angle copying: The guide can copy an existing workpiece angle before being locked in position.
  • Hard sanding mode: Maintains the selected angle firmly for controlled preliminary sanding.
  • Soft sanding mode: Activates flexible angle adaptation for careful intermediate sanding of paint and filler.
  • Full-face crossheaded guide: Provides stable contact against the workpiece to reduce unwanted machine movement.
  • Sliding abrasive-change position: Moves the guide away to provide convenient access when replacing the sanding disc.
  • LAS-H-ES base runner: Plastic runner for effective sliding on wood and similar coarse surfaces.
  • LAS-W-ES base runner: Accepts a velour lining for smooth, painted and sensitive workpiece surfaces.
  • 125mm sanding format: Works with the sanding system of the compatible Festool 125mm random orbital sander.

Benefits

  • Faster edge preparation: Reduces the time required for laborious manual sanding while delivering more consistent results.
  • Repeatable edge angles: The locking guide helps maintain the same angle along the complete workpiece.
  • Reduced sanding errors: Full-surface support lowers the risk of tipping, rounding corners or creating an uneven edge.
  • Protects finished surfaces: The velour-compatible runner glides over delicate, smooth and painted workpieces.
  • Safer coating preparation: Soft mode adapts to the surface to help prevent sanding through paint or filler.
  • Ideal for large workpieces: Takes the edge-sanding system to the workpiece instead of moving bulky panels to a stationary machine.
  • Broad application range: Processes straight, angled, painted, filled, solid-wood and externally curved edges.
  • Maintains dust extraction: The compatible sander can continue using its integral dust collection or a connected mobile extractor.

Application

  • Furniture and cabinet manufacture.
  • Preparing sawn or routed edges.
  • Sanding solid timber edges.
  • Finishing filled and painted edges.
